Rancho Terra Norté is located on 40 acres of rolling, dryland native grass with spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains. While we are passionate about German Shepherd Dogs and Traditional European Style herding, you are just as likely to meet Rottweilers, Collies, Corgis or perhaps a Swedish Vallhunds.
The Herding program at Rancho Terra Norté has been in existence since April, 2003. It has been associated with Buckhorn Valley Kennel Club and Continental Divide Herding Association and enjoys access to the resources an All-breed and Performance club can provide.
With BVKC we held our first AKC herding match in July, 2004 and since then have been putting on AKC herding tests/trials in April, July and October. In 2020, CDHA started holding its annual herding trials at RTN in conjunction with BVKC's Fall trials offering A, B, C, and D courses with HT/PT/PTwBoundary/FDC tests. RTN has also played host to National Herding Events for the Belgian Sheepdog Club of America, the Belgian Tervuran Club of American, The German Shepherd Dog Club of America, The Shetland Sheepdog club of America, and The Briard Club of America.
The cooperative’s regional membership is diverse. Most of our members are active in their regional and national breed clubs. In addition we have members who are accredited ASCA, AHBA and AKC herding judges.
Rancho Terra Norte is set up to be spectator friendly, with open field fencing and accessibility. Our facility boasts parking capability for over 100 vehicles, with 50 close-in/spectators. We offer overnight/dry camping for 30 to 40 rigs with easy access.

Staging area with observation deck.
The staging area is approximately 100 ft x 75 ft and includes our office trailer/club house. Inside is refrigerator, freezer and microwave for food storage and prep. In the south end is our trial office space with desk, electric outlets and printer. There is also a long counter to set up meals.
The wooden deck is L-shaped (10x10 on the north end and runs 10 x 40 north to south).
